Kuumba Festival 

After a three-year hiatus due to Covid, the Kuumba Festival is returning to Laurinburg on the weekend of September 23 and 24.  The 2022 Kuumba Festival is a 2-day celebration of African American culture and heritage articulated through art, music, dance, food, and community.  The Kuumba Festival serves to expose and educate all people to the individual talents and contributions of the African American culture.  The event kicks-off on Friday night and includes an all-white African themed dinner party, preceded by a one hour tour of historical African American sites within our community.

The Kuumba Festival on Saturday will include a full day on Main Street in Downtown Laurinburg that will feature musical performances, art, literature, poets, cultural cuisine, dancers, drummers, marching bands, community choir, a pageant, speakers, vendors, special awards, and recognitions of beloved ancestors who helped shape our community.

Farmers Market

Saturday, August 27th will feature a Farmers Market to be held in McDuffie Square – the new city park located along Railroad Street. The Market will run from 9:00 am until noon. The Farmers Market will feature local produce providers and craft vendors from the area. Other market dates include: Aug 27, Sept. 24, and Oct. 29.

Laurinburg is excited to welcome our newest restaurant to the Downtown District, The Railroad Bar and Grill is conveniently Located at 102 S Main Street in Laurinburg. The Bar and Grill provides lunch, dinner and spirits. You can rent the upstairs for birthdays, anniversaries or large parties.
