Cypress Bend Vineyards officially opened its doors in late June of 2005. After four years of cultivating thirty acres of muscadine variety grapes (better known as Scuppernong), Dan and Tina Smith decided to share their passion for these grapes with the public.
The land which Cypress Bend Vineyards calls home, is steeped in rich history, passed down through the generations since 1807. The beautiful farm land, known as Riverton, was discovered by a Scottish couple, Reverend Daniel White and his wife Catherine Campbell White.
The Whites raised five children in Riverton, and to this day their descendants, including the Smith family, continue to enjoy the farm and its native surroundings. In fact, many of the wines being bottled and sold reflect the historic names within the Smith family.
From tastings and tours to a quiet time on the patio or a jazzy time on Friday nights, Cypress Bend will welcome you into their family and farm.
One of the great things about Cypress Bend is its unique calendar. Fridays feature live music. Early September marks the Fall Harvest and Grape Stomp, and there's an annual Christmas Open House in December.
